Da$h For Ca$h

Event Information:

The Dash for Cash is a 64-team bracket-style, single elimination event to be held Tuesday July 24, 2012, in Oscoda. Teams will be competing for a part of a $5,000 prize pool, and every team that competes will receive a cash prize.  Sprints are scheduled to start at 3:00pm and will be held in approx. 2-3 minute intervals until a champion is crowned. Prize money will be handed out following the final sprint, and paddlers must be present to collect their prize.

Check-in and registration for the Dash for Cash will be held at the AuSable Inn from 12:00pm (noon) until 2:30pm. Teams will be positioned on the bracket via random draw as they check-in. Only the first 64-teams to sign up for the Dash for Cash will be allowed to compete. The course is approx. 1/4 mile in length. Two teams will sprint downstream at once, starting from behind Gilbert's Pharmacy and finishing just upstream of the Mill Street Bridge. The sprint durations are estimated to last approx. 1m:20s per heat.

This is not a mandatory event for Marathon paddlers, and therefore, paddlers that are registered for the Marathon together do not have to compete together.  There is no entry fee for anyone registered for the Marathon and they will be given preference when filling the 64 spots on the bracket by being allowed to pre-register for the Dash for Cash until 12:00pm (noon) on July 23, 2012.  This requires that the entry form be in the hands of an ARICM Oscoda Committee member before then!

Registration for the Dash for Cash will be open to the public on the day of the competition, July 24, 2012, if spots on the bracket are still available. The entry fee for non-Marathon-registered paddlers is $20 per person. If a team comprised of one Marathon-registered paddler and one non-Marathon-registered paddler wishes to compete, they may pre-register at any time as long as there are spots available, with no entry fee for the Marathon-registered paddler and a $20 entry fee for the non-Marathon-registered paddler.

Paddlers will be able to pre-register for this event when they register for the AuSable River Canoe Marathon.  The entry form for the Dash for Cash is included with the 2012 Marathon Entry Packet, or it can be downloaded here: 2012 Dash For Cash Entry Form.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at contact.aricm@gmail.com
